DRAMA:S’West PDP Tackles Oyinlola

The Caretaker of the Peoples Democratic Party Committee in the South-West on Tuesday declared the position of the National Secretary of the party vacant.

The chairman of the committee, Chief Ishola Filani, who stated this while addressing journalist after the party’s zonal meeting in Ibadan oyo state, therefore, urged any interested PDP member to apply for the position.

Former Osun State Governor Olagunsoye Oyinlola and occupant of the position before his being sacked by a court had insisted in a recent open letter to the party leadership, that the position was not vacant.

Oyinlola also noted that it would be wrong for the party to replace him as the National Secretary when he already had a pending case over the same issue in court.

Filani said, “All other officers have been asked to resign and the position of the National Secretary has been declared open because it was nullified at the court.

“There was another court injunction at the lower and appeal court which threw out the case. As far as we are concerned the position of the national secretary is open to all members to contest.”

He also noted that only the positions that were not vacant in line with the directive of the party at the national level are that of the PDP National Chairman, Auditor and Financial Secretary

He added, “The sharing formula is still recognized and retained. Ekiti State has the position of National Vice-Chairman, South-West and the Zonal Public Relations Officer; Lagos State has the Zonal Organizing Secretary and the Zonal Financial Secretary, while Ogun State has the Zonal Secretary and the National Auditor.

“Ondo State has the Zonal Treasurer and the National Legal Adviser; Oyo has the Zonal Auditor and the Zonal Youth Leader; Osun has the National Secretary and the National Woman Leader. Each state has an ex-official and the national ex-official still exists. “

The decisions, he stated, had the consent of the party from the ward to the national level.

Former governor of Osun State, Isiaka Adeleke; his Ekiti State counterpart, Ayo Fayose; former Ogun State Speaker, Mrs. Titi Oseni; former deputy governor of Ogun State; Mrs. Salimot Badru; Chief Buruji Kashamu and Amb. Abayomi Finni were also among party stalwarts that were present at the meeting.
