The trio joined Chelsea Chief Executive Ron Gourlay at the Siriraj Hospital to pay respect to the 85-year-old King, who is held in high regard by the Thai people.
The mixture of monarchy and three world-renowned Chelsea figures ensured the presence of hundreds of adoring supporters, desperate for a glimpse of the Chelsea trio. Amid the screams and flashes of camera lenses, all three could be seen to be enjoying the attention, and the occasion.
With the King unwell in hospital, the protocol for visitors is to pay respects in front of a portrait, and Gourlay led the group in laying flowers before departing once more through the crowds of supporters, boarding a small boat on the nearby river and making their way back to the team hotel to prepare for the evening training session.
While on water, Lampard spoke to Chelsea TV about the fans at the visit. 'It was crazy really, in a nice way,' he said. 'You can see how far the club has grown in the years we've been here. We used to come to the Far East and America when we first came and we had support but now it's gone to a different level.
'They're very excited and you can only feel happy with that. You never feel any fear of the crowds, they just want to shake your hand, or have a quick photo or autograph and we're always happy to oblige.'
After the trip, the players rested before departing to the International School Bangkok for their first training session of the tour. Mourinho and his staff put them through a 90-minute session in warm temperatures before the squad returned to the hotel for a much-needed rest.
